Step Up Construction is launching its first net-zero-ready duplex at 469 Magnus in Winnipeg’s North End, a pilot project that combines sustainable building design with social impact. Built by Step Up’s own crew of marginalized Indigenous youth, the duplex will provide affordable, environmentally responsible housing, with one unit offered at 80% of median market rent to support long-term stability for a crew member’s family, while the other is rented at medium market rate. Featuring advanced energy-efficient systems, solar readiness, and resilient design, the project will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions while modeling sustainable construction practices in a historically underserved community.
